The Company
Murphys Creek Theatre is a small, professionally oriented theatre company located in the charming and historic goldrush-era town of Murphys, in Calaveras County, California.
Founded in 1994, the company produces the annual "Theatre Under the Stars" outdoor summer theatre festival at the beautiful amphitheatre at Albeno Munari Vineyard and Winery (formerly Stevenot). Since its founding in 1994, MCT's productions at Stevenot have grown steadily in popularity and critical acclaim, and have become a favorite summer tradition for both residents and visitors alike.

Theatre Under the Stars
Situated in a lovely pastoral valley 2 miles outside of Murphys, the beautiful amphitheatre at Albeno Munari Vineyard and Winery (formerly Stevenot) is an intimate 250-seat outdoor amphitheatre that provides the perfect setting to enjoy an evening of live theatre under the summer stars. Set on a tree-covered hillside in a natural "bowl," the theatre offers tiered seating with outstanding acoustics and site lines.
You are welcome to bring a picnic dinner to enjoy before the show. Light snacks, desserts, Munari wine by the glass or bottle, and non-alcoholic beverages are available for purchase at each performance.
Please note: Our seating area is lawned tiers. There are Adirondack chairs available on-site (the quantity is limited and they go on a first-come, first-served basis); you are also welcome to bring camp chairs, lawn chairs, beach chairs or a blanket to spread out.
(We recommend that you dress in layers, as the foothill weather among the trees can get cool as the night goes on.)
