Quill to Act is Murphys Creek Theatre’s new play development program, designed to move original work from the page to the stage. Playwrights submit unproduced scripts that are reviewed by a panel of judges and presented as professionally curated staged readings. Through live audiences, talkbacks, and real-time feedback, one script is selected for full development and mainstage production.
Timeline
Submissions Open: February 2026
Our panel of judges is ready to begin reviewing scripts and will select three plays to move forward as staged readings.
Finalists Announced: September 2026
Selected playwrights will be notified directly, with finalists announced publicly in September. Each finalist playwright will receive a $200 honorarium.
Staged Readings: October 7, 14, and 21, 2026 at 7:00 PM
Finalist scripts will be presented as professionally curated staged readings on October 7, 14, and 21 at 7:00 PM. Directors, performers, and technicians are drawn entirely from a pool of local, professional artists.
Following each reading, audiences will be invited to share real-time feedback to help inform the final selection.
Winner Announced: November 2026
One script will be chosen from the finalists and further developed for a full mainstage production in Murphys Creek Theatre’s 2027 Season.
